Aust. drivers prominent
Three Australian junior drivers head the points table alter the first round of qualifying heats, in the Australasian Junior Drivers Championships, which were held at Kilmore, Victoria on Monday. The Australian champion junior driver, Peter Caldow (Victoria) is leading with 10 points. Neville Webbley (Tasmania) is second with 9 points and Clinton Welsh (Victoria) holds third with 5 points. New Zealand has three representatives competing. They are Tony Herlihy of Pukekohe, Robin Swain of Gore and Jim Curtin of Christchurch.
Curtin and Herlihy both have 4 points and Robin Swain has 1 point. There are ten drivers competing and they are awarded 7 points for first, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth and 1 for fifth. The series involves two races at each of three meetings, the first of which was at Kilmore on Monday.
The next meeting is at Ballarat on Friday and the series will conclude at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
