Special correspondent “ ' ' ” " Auckland The Nelson pacer, Dutchy, will not. be going home until after the Wilfred Johnstone Memorial, at Cambridge on
May 8. '' '■ - “Things have gone pretty well so far on the trip.” his trainer. Ces Fox, said yesterday, • “so we might as well stay on.” .
First, though, Dutchy will run in. the Radio Hauraki Stakes, for four-year-olds, at the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on. Friday evening. Dutchy, which is owned by Fox, his son Tom and Mr Jack Reedy, has thrived since he won the Hosking Memorial at Alexandra Park last Friday. He also scored in his previous race at the park. He is being stabled at Alexandra Park and yesterday shaped attractively while doing an easy 2400 m. By Armbro Del from Light Away, Dutchy was bred by his owners and his dam was 23 years old when he was foaled. Light Away died last year aged 26. Six others of her progeny have won. One of them, Dunhoe, still holds the Hutt Park record for 2400 m according to Ces Fox. Frosty Lopez, a candidate for the Laser Free-For-All at the A.T.C. meeting, was given an easy 3200 m at Alexandra Park yesterday by her owner-trainer, Charlie Saunders. After living in Christchurch for many years, Saunders shifted recently to Auckland. He is living not far from Alexandra Park and has the use of a box there. Frosty Lopez has raced disappointingly this season. Saunders, believes she will have benefited from a spell from racing and he expects her to race better from now
Mike de Filippi, who is campaigning Take Care in the north, will drive Frosty Lopez on Friday evening.
