N.Z. colt sold

NZPA staff correspondent Sydney

The top New Zealand two-year-old McGinty is to go to stud in Australia in a deal which values him at sAustl million.

Mr Denis Thompson, of Tanderra Lodge, North Richmond, New South Wales, said last evening the colt would not race again because he

was too valuable. The deal was clinched on Sunday evening with the One Pound Sterling colt’s New Zealand owners, Mr Barney Cahill and Mr Keith Haub, both of Auckland. The horse is to be syndi-

cated, with Tanderra Lodge holding a majority interest , and Mr Cahill and Mr Haub retaining minority shares. McGinty, who raced in Sydney as Mr McGinty, showed his impressive ability with a battling win over the eventual Golden Slipper Stakes winner, Marscay, in the Todman Slipper Trial last month at Rosehill.
