Commission will continue to function
PA Wellington. Although the Commission for the Future will effectively cease to exist from May 12, it will officially continue to function until it is terminated by Parliament — and that date has not yet - been named. ■ A skeleton staff will con-. tinue to keep the commission going until May 12. This includes the secretary, who has been given three months notice, a staff member who hopes to com-
plete a project by then and the author of' the commis- i sion’s latest report on - nuclear’ war, Mr George Preddey, who has also been ; given three months notice. < Both the director’s of the .< commission, Mrs Myra Harp-' ham .and Mrs Margaret ' Hunn, will leave on May 12. Neither has decided employment plans after then. The commission is a statutory body and therefore it ■ cannot be abolished until it is repealed by an act of Parliament.
