Payment for delegates?
The Nurses' Association has decided to investigate the possibility of its members receiving some remuneration for attending workrelated conferences or seminars. Delegates to the associa? tions annual conference in Christchurch were told that at present nurses had to take annual leave or leave without pay to attend such events and in many cases staff did not attend because of loss of pay or leave. Consideration should be given urgently to increased staffing levels in community nursing services, the association decided. It will approach the Minister of Health (Mr Malcolm) asking hrm to consider staffing levels. ’The health and education support of vulnerable familities is unable to be met adequately within present nursing staff levels,” the conference was told.
