Crowe retains O.S.C.A title
Trevor Crowe, of Christchurch, retained his Open Saloon Car Association title when he won the O.S.C.A. final at Levels, near Timaru, yesterday in his Zap Starlet VB. Crowe finished a huge 22s ahead of another Christchurch driver, lan Munt (Capri Chev V 8), with Don Grindley making the race a Christchurch benefit with third in his Mazda RX3. Crowe finished the 1981-82 season with 134 points, six ahead of lan Wilkins (Ashburton, Escort). Munt was third with 115. Crowe also wrapped up the A class for the season by winning the A class race from John Osborne (Christchurch, Capri Chev). Grindley took the B class series when he won the B class race yesterday. Graeme Richardt, of Timaru, squeaked in in the small-car class with his Datsun coupe when he beat
Wayne Ross (Christchurch. Escort TC). Jim Little, of St Andrews, won both South Island production saloon races in his E 49 Charger but lan Begg, of Wyndham, wrapped up the series in his tiny VW Golf GTi because of the equalising points system used this season. In the B class Gavin Pollock (Southland, Mazda RX3) just prevailed after an epic struggle with Neville Boon (Christchurch, Mazda RX2). Jeff Pascoe, of Blenheim, added the South Island Formula Ford title to the national title he won last week-end when he took both races in his Lola. John Crawford (christchurch, Valour) was second m both races. In the second race Pascoe broke Brett Riley's longstanding Formula Ford lap record. Bob Driver, of Timaru, won the pre-65 saloon series in his nice-looking EH Holden.
