Disabled may get buses
Two small buses with wheelchair lifts are likely to be bought by the Christchurch Transport Board. The operations committee has recommended that the board approve the purchase of the buses for a total cost not exceeding 5140,000. The buses will be used for
the “Be Mobile” service and staff transport. The general manager (Mr M. G. Taylor) said that the lift on the bus would be less complicated than the foldaway mechanism now used by the board. Entry to the vehicle will be through twin folding doors at the rear.
