Verdict overturned
An American County Judge' has dismissed the arson-murder conviction of a Guatemalan waiter found guilty last week of setting a fire that killed 26 business executives at the Stouffer's Inn Hotel, near White Plains, in December, 1980. Westchester County Court Judge Lawrence Martin said the evidence against Luis Marin, aged 26, was insufficient to warrant his conviction on charges of being the arsonist. Judge Martin said that the prosecution’s case was built on "inference upon inference" and that it lacked the evidence to back up those inferences. — White Plains New York.
