Jet trainers to visit Coast
This Royal New Zealand Air Force Strikemaster, pic-» tured flying above the Tekapo township during the recent Southern Safari exercise in South Canterbury, will be on its way to the, West Coast next week. Ten Strikemaster trainers
will arrive at Hokitika Airport for' eight days flying over the Coast in Exercise Falcon’s Roost. The planes, from No, 14 Squadron, based at Ohakea, will train independently of the usual base facilities. Pilots will gain experience in
flying over unfamiliar country. The 100 personnel of the squadron will set up camp near the airfield, and support equipment and stores will be flown in by Air Force Hercules on Monday and Tuesday.
The camp and exercise will be controlled by Squadron Leader J. Barclay, of Levin. Members of the public will have the chance to see the Strikemasters at close range at an open day to be held at the camp on April 25.
