Scheme nipped in bud?
Parliamentary reporter No planting has yet been done under the scheme to beautify New Zealand by planting flowering shrubs along roadways. The Minister of Tourism (Mr Talbot) said that a planning committee headed by a Christchurch man, Mr Miles Warren, would advise him in May on the best way to bring in the plan, proposed by the Government in October.
He was sure the committee would bring down a positive report on this "longterm programme to beautify New Zealand." ’ Mr Talbot was answering a question by Mr M. K. Moore (Lab., Papanui). In a supplementary question Mr Moore asked was the scheme slow in getting started because it had been nipped in the bud by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon)?
