School league debut
The first secondary school team to participate in Canterbury rugby league Saturday morning competitions will make its debut today.
Bumside High School is to make its first appearance at the school grounds against Linwood in the 14-years grade.
The coach. John Haynes, who is a masler at Bumside, said yesterday that plans
were in hand to extend rugby league in schools to an intercollegiate basis during Wednesday sports periods.
A match between Burnside and Aranui High School at first XIII level, with the sides ' largely comprising sixth and seventh formers, has been scheduled for May 5. and two other secondary schools in Christchurch had also expressed interest incompeting.
