Parliament/sat at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. < Mr D. F? Caygill (Lab., St Albans) tabled the petition of Lawrence McKinley, seeking an increasein his war pension. The Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) introduced the Gas Bill. It was referred to the Commerce and Energy Select Committee for study. The Civil Aviation Amendment Bill was introduced by the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr Gair) but another of Mr Gain’s bills,-., the Transport Amendment (No. 2) Bill, was tied 38-38 on a division over whether it should be introduced; ’ The Speaker, Sir Richard Harrison, exercised a casting vote to allow its introduction and further debate. . The Health Amendment (No. 2) Bill was introduced by the Minister of Health (Mr Malcolm) and referred to the Health and Welfare Committee.
