Games bid failure
Karen Forbes (Old Boys) missed the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark by only 80 points in a special heptathlon at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Saturday and yesterday. However, her final score of 5320 points was an excellent one and should impress the Games selectors. Overnight, after four events, she was 40 points ahead of schedule on 3114. Yesterday a long jump of 5.72 metres, and a javelin throw of only 25.72 metres, four metres less than she had hoped for, destroyed her chances of a qualifying score. She achieved one personal best, 14.455ec in the 100 m hurdles.
