Toll on cars?
London is set to declare war on cars with plans afoot to make motorists pay tolls to drive their cars into the city. A radical scheme that has never been tried before by a major industrial nation — to cordon off the whole central city area and make private and goods vehicles pay to travel in and out — is the latest idea for beating London’s road chaos. The proposal is being considered by Greater London Council’s transport chiefs. The scheme would take four years to implement and require Government legislation—London.
