Three centuries scored in lower grades

An innings of 136 by DannyHalligan (St Bedes) and a bag of nine wickets for Steve Smith (Riccarton) were the highlights of the final round of lower-grade cricket. In all. three centuries were scored and six bowling figures which included six wickets or more. Halligan's innings came in his team's drawn third-grade match against High School Old Boys. The other century scorers were the former Canterbury representative. Dave Gallip, who hit 109 for Sydenham against Old Collegians in the fourth grade, and the Old Collegians batsman, ' Flewellen. who was unbeaten on 110 in the eighth grade. Smith's figures of nine wickets for 40 runs in the fourth grade steered his team to a convincing win over Technical, which was dismissed for 85 in the second innings. All but one of the remaining best bowling performances came in the second grade, where three bowlers bagged six wickets and another, J. Stapleton-Smith, seven wickets. Lancaster Park’s G. Carr also claimed seven wickets in the fifth grade. Doug McMillan’s 6/49 for Old Collegians against Riccarton included a hat-trick. Miller 81 not out; D. McMillan 6/49, including 'hat-trick) and 55/ 1. Marist 224/4 and 147-7 beat East-Shirley 185 and 184 (D. Morgan 74). Burnside-West 106 and 137 (I. K. Morrison 6/44) lost to High School Old Boys 200 and 45/1. St Albans 198/6 and 160 drew with Lancaster Park 196 and 87/8 (J. Stapleton-Smith 7/40. THIRD GRADE St Andrew's 179 and 192'2 (Lucas 50, Ridgen 57, White 63 not out) drew with East-Shirley 188/9 (G. Andrell 56) and 14/1. St Thomas's 98/9 and 134 lost to Lancaster Park 145/6 and 88/1. Linwood High School 87 and 215/9 dec. drew with Bumside High School 186/6 dec. and 25/8 (Moore 5/9). Christ's College 139 and 199 (A. Vincent 58.
