Peace effort hopes
PA Wellington With New Zealand to start peace-keeping duties in the Sinai in three days, ’ the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said he hoped this country would be seen as making a “contribution , to: the peace process,’.’ “We have good relations with many States in the area.
We do business with them, and we wish them well,” Mr Muldoon said. “We very much hope .therefore that our participation in the Sinai will be seen by others, as we see it ourselves, as a contribution to the peace process and our recognition of the importance of creating an environment iri which peaceful de-
velopment of their resources becomes possible for all the people of the area.” New Zealand’s role in the Multinational Force and observers’ operation had been welcomed by Egypt and Israel, Mr Muldoon .said. The "force ' was" balanced and multinational;.- which had been ’ the, terms for New Zealand’s participation.
