Honda’s big plans in U.S.
The Honda Motor Company has decided to procure from American/ makers equipment and machinery valued, at $204 million for its plant, now being built in Ohio. To help ease trade friction with the United States, the Japanese car-maker has also decided to acquire 50 per cent of the car parts needed for the initial running of the plant from United States companies. Honda of America plans to complete installation of such equipment as press, injection and painting machines and conveyors for assembly lines supplied by American companies by August. The small car- plant is expected to start with a daily capacity of 300 units, which the company plans to double by 1984.
