New Tokelauan stamp issue

This set of four Tokelauan stamps, which will be issued on May 5, departs from the recent sports theme in Tokeiauan stamps and depicts handicrafts. The stamps also feature the Tokelauan currency denominations, the Western Samoan tala and sene, instead of dollars and cents. The stamps were designed by Maurice Conly, of Waikanae, who also produced the

first-day cover for the issue. The covers, which will cost $1.34, can be ordered from the Philatelic Bureau, Private Bag, Wanganui, and will be forwarded to Tokelau, for date-stamping. The stamps will be available only from the bureau and Post Office philatelicsales outlets. The issue, which is not valid for posting in New Zealand, will remain on sale until November 2.
