New college opens soon
Marian College, a new diocesan college for girls, will be opened on March 25 by the Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby). The new college is on the North Parade site formerly occupied by McKillop College, and it is an amalgamation of McKillop and St Mary's college. The latter was formerly in Colombo Street. The old college's buildings have been extensively improved to house the' new college, which will have a roll of about 400.
