“Behind Stan’s,” a 1977 work by the realist painter, Grahame Sydney, which is included in “Drawing into Painting,” a major exhibition of his paintings and drawings which has been mounted by the Robert McDougall Art Gallery. The exhibition includes 33 paintings executed between 1975 and 1980. There are also numerous pencil drawings which served as studies tor the completed paintings. The gallery’s director, John Coley, says these drawings were included to give viewers an insight into the rigorous process of observation and analysis” behind Sydney’s paintings.
