Task force promotion

A travel-industry task force from Tasmania will arrive in New Zealand this week to begin a major nation-wide campaign to promote tourism to Australia's island state. The well-established “talkabout” concept will be used whereby travel agents and tour wholesalers can discuss with the Tasmanians aspects of their local tourism industry.

Al) participants will receive h comprehensive pack of the state’s latest promotional material and tour information. “The Tasmanian tourism industry has a high regard for the New Zealand holiday market, and has been encouraged by the number of passengers using the Christchurch-Hobart air link in its first year of operation,” said the task force co-

ordinator, Mr Ramon T. Jones. The campaign, which is being spearheaded by the Tasmanian Tourist Council, will begin in Auckland on Thursday and end in Christchurch on March 29 and 30. The South Island Promotion Association is preparing to mount a similar drive for tourists in Tasmania later this year.
