Rope workers on strike

Dunedin About 200 rope and twine workers employed, by the Dunedin-based Donaghy’s Industries, Ltd, have gone’ on strike after failure to reach agreement on the negotiation of their annual award. ' The workers in the company’s three cordage plants at Dunedin, Christchurch, and Auckland, stopped work early yesterday. Conciliation talks held in Dunedin finished without agreement on March 4. Although company representatives would: not discuss details of the dispute, it is believed that the problem is related to the settlement of -award wage rates. .
