Fewer nurses emigrate

PA Wellington New Zealand lost fewer nurses last year through migration than in 1980. Figures released by the Statistics Department show a net migration loss of 278' registered nurses in 1981, compared with 667 in 1980. The executive director of

the Nurse’s Association, Miss Shona Carey, said that the figures confirmed a reversal of the marked emigration of nurses during 1980 and the first half of 1981. Nearly twice as many nurses had returned to New Zealand in the last quarter of 1981 as had left for overseas.
