National skeet title
John Woolley (Christchurch) wrapped up his second title in as many days when he won the New Zealand skeet championship at the national trapshooting tournament in Yaldhurst, near Christchurch, yesterday. The championship, held in near-perfect conditions at the Christchurch Gun Club’s headquarters, drew a total of 230 entries from, throughout New Zealand and Australia. Woolley, the Commonwealth champion, outlasted a field of eight finalists who had earlier scored possible 50s in the preliminary rounds. Aiming in the smooth, precise style that is his trademark, Woolley hit 18 targets without a miss in the shoot-off, one better than the second-placed Henry Weitzel, of Melbourne. George Shaw, of Waitemata, was third with 14 targets, one ahead of Martin Baker (Ashburton). ■ Woolley's success came hard
