Cricket selector resigns
NZPA-Reuter Islamabad Pakistan’s chief cricket selector, Ejaz Butt, resigned yesterday over the crisis caused by the refusal of eight top cricketers to play under the side’s captain, Javed Miandad. Mr Butt was chairman of a three-man selection committee which omitted the
eight players for the present first test against the'touring Sri Lanka. Mr Butt said yesterday that he did not want to be a party to a “disintegration of cricket in Pakistan” and accused the president of Pakistan’s Cricket Control Board (8.C.C.P.), Air Marshal Nur Khan, of taking a rigid attitude in the dispute.
