African venue for meeting?

NZPA - London .•The Southern African NonRacial Olympic: Committee (5.A.N.R.0.C.) has called for an urgent meeting of. Commonwealth ?; government Sports'Ministers. The meeting would discuss the crisis in sports links among Commonwealth nations brought on by the rebel English cricket tour of South Africa and the threat -it has posed to this year’s Commonwealth Games at Brisbane. The “Observer” newspaper said that S.A.N.R.O.C. had suggested the meeting take place in Zimbabwe. A spokesman for the committee, Chris de Broglio, said

that Britain, like N ew Zealand because of its willingness to play rugby against the ’Springboks, would become the pariahs of the Commonwealth. “The bulk of the Commonwealth is going to condemn these two countries,” said Mr Broglio. “Britain can escape only by stern action. The Govern- 1 ment must be forthright in its condemnation. The Test •l and County Cricket Board must ban the cricketers from all levels of the game.” He said that unless Britain . and New Zealand acted “vigorously,” the rest of the Commonwealth would sever all sports links with them.
