NZPA Sydney The 18.5 metre New Zealand sloop Ta’aroa has been declared the provisional handicap winner of the inaugural Xerox Sydney to Rio race. Ta’aroa, skippered by, a Wellington businessman, Mr lan MacFarlane, is the smallest of the’ three yachts to complete the 8300-nautical mile event, crossing the finishing line in Rio at 1.49 p.m. Friday.
