Cedar Key showed sharp speed
Cedar Key, likely favourite for the second leg of the TAB. double at the Hororata meeting, gave reassuring evidence of his fitness in his winding-up gallop at Riccarton yesterday. He reeled off 600 m on the plough in 36.95, and did his work without any great show of effort. ‘ Earlier Ay Em reeled off the last 600 m of his work in 36.25, and Indigod returned 36.85.
Firefly, the Hororata Cup topweight, did well to record Imih 31s as a solo effort for 1400 m. She returned 38s for the last 600 m. The two-year-olds, Babooshka and Our Gal Rosie, hurried in from the 600 m in 35.45. They will meet in the Riccarton Stud Handicap tomorrow. Much of the other work was of a run-of-the-mill nature.
