Firefly fine prospect in Hororata Cup

By J. J. BOYLE Firefly and Cedar Key are a fancied combination for the Hororata Racing Club’s T.A.B. double at Riccarton tomorrow. Firefly attempts a top weight’s victory in the first leg, the Hororata Cup, but Cedar Key is close to the minimum in the second leg, the Amalgamated Packaging Handicap, a 1400 m sprint that gives him a bright chance of confirming the promise he has shown in a swift rise through the classes.

Firefly is this season’s Dunedin and Waikouaiti Cups winner and showed her present fitness with a sound solo final trial at Riccarton yesterday. Cedar Key also sprinted attractively in training at Riccarton yesterday. If, as expected, he goes well in tomorrow’s race he might be taken north to race at Trentham next week.
