February dry and sunny
Dry, sunny, warm weather predominated in Christchurch during February, with the occurrence of the second highest temperature on record and the heaviest frost according to the Meteorological office. The highest temperature for the month, 37deg., was recorded on February 15 and a frost, —l.6deg, was on February 6. Rainfall for the month
totalled 21mm, compared with the average 45mm, with only three wet days (8). The heaviest fall occurred on February 23 with 18mm. No rainfall was recorded from January 27 to February 23. The mean temperature was 18.2 deg. (16.1 deg.) with 224 sunshine hours (184 hours). For the first two months of the year 474 hours of sunshine have been recorded (397 hours).
