COUNCIL CONTROL OF FIRES CONTROL OF FIRES THE prohibition on open air fires has now been lifted in that part of the County excluding the Riseley area as from Wednesday, March 3,1982. Fires are still prohibited within the areas bounded by Island Road, Ohoka Road, Adderley Terrace, and the Boundary with Kaiapoi Borough. This area being generally known as the Riseley area. Fires may be lit in that part of the County where the prohibition has been lifted provided the following rules are strictly adhered to: — Absolutely no fires, whether rubbish or stubble, may be lit or allowed to burn after 10 a.m. or before 4 p.m. or on a Sunday. — All fires must be attended until extinguished. Fires must not be lit in windy conditions. — Stubble fires — Neighbours who have standing crops which could be endangered must be informed beforehand. A fire break of at least 10 metres must be ploughed beforehand. — No fires, stubble or otherwise may be lit in the Eyrewell State Forest area at any time without the ■ sanction of the Forest Service. — No fires in the Riseley area. This ban does not include conventional type barbecues. These restrictions and conditions are imposed pursuant to the Councils Fire Bylaw and the Forest and Rural Fire Act, 1977 and will remain in force, until further notice.
