Fiji Govt buys airline shares

PA Suva The Fijian Government has bought the 9.5 per cent of Air Pacific shares held by Qantas. The Fiji manager of Qantas, Mr Adrian Luton, confirmed that the deal had been concluded, but declined to disclose the amount involved.

A report in the “Fiji Times” said it was thought that the Government, the largest shareholder in Fiji's national airline, paid about $60,000 for the shares. This amounted to 17c for each of the 315,000 $1 shares held by Qantas, the newspaper said.
