Lady Hamilton buried
Lady Hamilton was buried yesterday alongside the grave of her husband. Sir William Hamilton, in the tiny Burkes Pass cemetery. About 100 relatives and friends gathered in the tranquil setting near the summit
of Burkes Pass, midway between Ashwick Station (Sir William’s boyhood home) and Irishman Creek, the Mackenzie Country sheep station to which he brought his young English bride nearly 60 years ago. The simple graveside service was conducted by the Rev. G. Blackwood and a eulogy was delivered by Mr P. Le Cren. The pall bearers were Lady Hamilton’s son, Mr Jon Hamilton, her son-in-law, Mr Mick Morgan, a nephew, Mr Dick Georgeson, and her grandsons, Michael and Richard Hamilton and David Morgan.
