One of the six DSG class locomotives brought to Lyttelton on the Shinwa Maru being unloaded by the ship’s crane yesterday. The locomotives, made at the Toshiba factory, near Tokyo, cost about $750,000 each. After final adjustments have been made at the Linwood locomotive depot, the six units will be distributed to shunting yards in the Christchurch area.
