Crescent only Riccarton runner at Trentham

Riccarton representation at Trentham on Saturday will be left to Crescent, an acceptor for the 1200 m Pacific Handicap.

Bijou Lad was sore after galloping at Riccarton on Tuesday and might be out of action for several weeks. All going well he would have run in the highweight at Trentham.

Indigod and Lord of the Dance were withdrawn yesterday from their engagements on the first day of the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting and will race at the

Hororata meeting at Riccarton. Indigod is top weight in the Amalgamated Packaging Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double, and Lord of the Dance is in the L. Der-

rett Handicap. Mrs Ola Swolf, trainer of Lord of the Dance, said yesterday that if this promising three-year-old runs a top race on Saturday he will be taken to Trentham for the New Zealand St Leger on the third day’ of the Wellington meeting.

Lord of the Dance’s stablemate, Glydavari, is also an acceptor for the Hororata club’s Derrett Handicap but she was off colour yesterday and might not run.

Crescent, a six-year-old gelding by King’s Canary from the brilliant Palley, will have David Walsh as his rider in the Pacific Handi- , cap, a 1200 m class 4 race at Trentham on Saturday.

Mr Jack Tutton, who bred him, put him aside for three years after the gelding was hit by a truck.

Crescent now races partly in the interests of his trainer, Bevan Laming. He cleared maiden ranks easily at Washiyke in December and has since won a 1100 m scurry at Kumara.
