The strange eight-wheeled machine, above, is the Cargocat, a special version of the Argocat multi-purpose vehicle, produced by Crayford Special Equipment of Westerham, Kent.
The all-wheel-drive carrier has full weather protection supplied by the Car Hood Company, and the vehicles have been specially equipped and strengthened for arduous desert service. Additional
equipment includes extra cooling fans, an external spotlight, and a built-in winch. An order worth £115,000 for 10 Cargocats, a special version of the Argocat, has been received from the Middle East. The 10 Cargocats will be supplied with tracks for increased mobility. They have a top speed of about 32km/h from a 12kW single cylinder 4-stroke aircooled engine.
