PA Tauranga A Katikati orchardist, Mr Egan Ogier, is prepared to stand for the presidency of the national Party. Mr Ogier stepped into Mr George Chapman’s shoes as chairman of the party’s‘Wellington division in 1972 and held that position until a year after he moved to Katikati in 1977. He is treasurer of the
Waikato division and has strong support from the division. If the Wellington division also gives me strong support I am willing to offer myself,” he said. “I am not. chasing the presidency, but if the National Party shows it wishes me to fill a vacuum left by the retirement of Mr Chapman, I am prepared to respond.”
