Big role

NZPA London , New Zealand-born Lisa Harrow has scored her biggest role as Nancy Astor in a 8.8. C. series named after the vibrant woman who dominated British society between the two world wars and was the first female M.P. “Nancy Astor,” a nine-part series, had its premiere last week and seems certain to become addictive viewing in the tradition of the 8.8.C.’s other historical extravaganzas. Lisa, aged 38, says she almost “became” Nancy Astor while acting the part. Now she has to rid herself of “the person who has inhabited my body for the past

nine months.” Said Lisa: “I found myself losing patience with people and bossing them around. Not like me at all. “All that was very draining. By the end I was hysterical with exhaustion. Now I am letting my spirit recuperate.” Once, while a scene was being shot outside the House of Commons, an old woman among the spectators called out: “My God, it’s our Nancy.” Lisa said the woman turned out to have worked with Lady Astor in the Girl Guides years before and for a moment “thought I was her.”
