Drugs killing alleged

PA Masterton Norman Charles Olsen, aged 37, a carpenter, of Masterton, has been committed for trial in the High Court at Wellington on a charge of the murder of Jack Walter Mannerings at Masterton on December 14.

Olsen is alleged to have shot Mt Mannerings at Olsen's Cornwall Street. Masterton, home.

Depositions on the charge were taken in . the District Court at Masterton' on Friday. The Crown prosecutor, Mr J. Larsen, called three witnesses to give evidence, and written statements from 19 witnesses were, presented. Mr M. A. Bungay, who with Mr J. ,K. W. Blathwayt represented Olsen, said he would challenge the admissibility of six of the witnesses' statements, dealing with narcotics, in the High Court.Evidence was given that a dispute arose over payment for drugs.
