‘Trees’ wins prize
NZPA Monte Carlo The New Zealand Television documentary, “Man of The Trees," by Leon Nardey, has won the special Prince Ranier 111 award for environment protection films, at the Monte Carlo Television Film Festival. “Man of the Trees” tells of the campaign by the New Zealander, Richard St Barbe
Baker, to protect virgin forests and plant the desert with trees.-,. ; ’ Mr Baker, aged 92, lives near Lake Tekapq. He has worked as a silviculturist and forestry adviser, devoting his life to ecology and conservation throughout the world. Among the many books he has written is his biography, "My Trees — My Life.”
