England beats Sri Lanka
NZPA-Reuter Colombo England scraped home by only five runs against Sri Lanka on Saturday in its first one-day 45-over cricket international after a spirited performance by the home side. Chasing a disappointing England total of 211 all out. Sri Lanka entered the last over needing 12 to tie the scores and win the match on the basis of losing fewer wickets. Seven runs came off the
first five balls bowled by the part-time seamer Graham Gooch, but Asantha de Mel could manage only a single off the last to give England its first win since last November.
