Arts Centre craft markets must end
The Christchurch Arts Centre’s Saturday craft market cannot continue into the winter as the buildings will be used by other groups. Several stall-holders had asked if the outdoor market could go on beyond the K fanned finishing date of [arch 27, said the centre’s director, Mr Ray Sleeman. "If the market was moved indoors, 'for the winter only the Centre Gallery or the Great Hall would be suitable, and these , are both used every Saturday until about 12.30. p.m. by the Christchurch -School, of In-
strumental Music, It would not be possible," he said. A’ meeting of stall-holders will be held on March 27 to decide whether the market should' run from November to March next year, instead of from December as it was this vear. "Probably 20 people want to come into the market next year, over and above those who are taking part now," said Mr Sleeman. x Up to 3000 people visit each market to browse among the 26 stalls, which offer such items' as potterv, blown glass, jewellery, and basketwork.
