Air pollution
Sir,—l do hope Mr P. Neary of the Clean Air Society has read the address by Mr P. A.. Toynbee regarding Coal and pollution. The facts Mr Toynbee has stated are there for all to see. I believe now that the gasworks has stopped burning coal there will be a dramatic change this winter. Already it is a joy now to work in the Falsgrave Street area. I hope they will soon stop burning oil as that does not help the economy or the environment. I' am afraid we must look further than the open fireplace for pollution causes and it would help if the Clean Air Society took its head out of the coal ashes and did some more homework; otherwise they may lose credibility with the masses they are trying to educate.— Yours, etc., D. JOHNSTON. February 11, 1982.
