Mother drops suit
NZPA London The mother of Jacqueline Hill, the Yorkshire Ripper’s thirteenth murder victim, has decided not to sue the West Yorkshire Chief Constable (Mr Ronald Gregory) over the death of her student daughter. Doreen Hill said yesterday that despite mistakes made by the police, which allowed Peter Sutcliffe to go on killing, no amount of money could pay for her daughter's life. Jacqueline Hill, a student
at Leeds University, was killed by Sutcliffe in November, 1980. Mrs Hill said she would let the matter rest, but she would like to have seen the death sentence imposed on Sutcliffe for his 13 killings. There was relief in West Yorkshire after the announcement. The chairman of the West Yorkshire Police Committee. Ron Darrington, said he was “very, very pleased” that Mrs Hill had been able to reach her decision.
