I spied for Soviets — colonel
NZPA-Reuter Jakarta An Indonesian military officer arrested in Jakarta after a crack-down on a Soviet spy network has told his interrogators that he had worked with the Soviets for the last five years. Lieutenant-Colonel Susdaryanto admitted that he had been assigned by the Soviets to obtain secret Government documents, a leading Jakarta newspaper, “Berita Buana” reported. Colonel Susdaryanto said he had been in close contact with the head of the Jakarta branch of the Aeroflot airline, Alexander Finenko, who
had helped him in his activities. : i’ The paper gave no details. This was the first disclosure of the interrogation of the Indonesian officer who was captured on Saturday night after an airport scuffle as the Soviet assistant military attache, Lieutenant-Colone’l Sergei Egorov, was being expelled on spying charges. Mr Finenko was also arrested at Halim Airport when he was seeing off Colonel Egorov. A fist fight' 1 broke out at the airport when Soviet officials tried to prevent Indonesian Intelligence officers arresting the Aeroflot chief.
