Suspension threat
PA Auckland A suspension almost kept the New Zealand soccer star. Brian Turner, off Mount Smart during New Zealand's game against Hungary on Thursday evening. Turner, who scored New Zealand's only goal, has been suspended by the Sydney club, Blacktown, for breach of contract. Blacktown reported the ■ matter to the Australian Football Association who in turn reported to F.I.F.A.
Turner was then suspended from playing on Thursday evening and only some quick talking by the New Zealand coach, Mr John Adshead, led to a temporary truce. Turner said after the game the problem had arisen because he still had not negotiated a release of his contract
with the Australian club. The club wanted SNZII,OOO for his release but he simply did not have the money. If the matter is not resolved it could put a cloud over Turner’s availability for the World Cup finals in Spain.
