AUCTIONEERS COMMENTS—“Berwen” has been in the Aubrey family since 1918 when the Run was drawn in a ballot in the split up of Omarama Station. A few years later “Clay Cliffs” was purchased. Since 1948 when Mr R. A. Aubrey, (present owner’s father) took over the properties, much development has taken place. With the eradication of rabbits and careful management, the Aubrey family have lifted the stock carrying figures to their present level and quality. Twenty miles of new fencing has been erected over the last 10 years and good vehicle access tracks have been built. Excellent lambing percentages are obtained from both properties—in 1981 “Berwen” 94 per cent; “Clay Cliffs” 106 per cent. Up to 90 per cent Fat Lambs have been drafted off the mothers. The average wool weights from both properties is 3.9 kgs. It is a condition of the sale that all Stock and Plant be purchased at at Valuation by the Purchaser or-Puchasers of the Properties. The valuation and counts will take place prior to the date of possession of the land. The Merino Sheep, early April and the Corriedale Sheep and Cattle, approx, the Ist week of May.
