Q.H. expansion
Quill Humphreys, Ltd, Christchurch-based liquor marketer and wholesaler, is buying the three Dalgety Wine and Spirit premises in Hamilton, Whangarei, and Christchurch.
j Quill Humphreys, which markets national wine and spirit brands and also whole-, sales liquor, has just completed arrangements to the satisfaction of the Examiner of Commercial Practices (Mr A. E. Monaghan) and the formal document of consent for the purchase was signed yesterday.
A condition imposed on, and agreed to by Quill Hum- , phreys, is that no nominee by Ballins interests to the board of Quill Humphreys or its subsidiaries shall be a member of the board or an executive of any other business involved in the manufacture, distribution or sale of alcoholic liquor. The additions to the Cellar Ghost Liquor Cellar chain, operated by Quill Hum-
phreys, will trade under their Cellar Ghost identity from February 15. Quill Humphreys’ managing director (Mr B. J. Vieceli) said that the acquisition was designed to strengthen the company’s marketing of national and regional liquor brands. He emphasised this was being achieved while preserving the group’s independence in the liquor industry. The acquisition will give the Quill Humphreys-owned Cellar Ghost Liquor Cellar chain a strong presence in both the North and South Islands.
