Stranrear, a 202.6479 ha freehold property in Montalto, was passed in at $715,000 at auction‘on February 5. The farm has a GV (1980) of $365,000. It is situated in a high rainfall area, and runs 2700 ewes plus dry stock, and has 27 ha in crops. It contains a modern twostorey colonial home carpeted throughout and featur- . ing lead-light windows, with
four bedrooms, an office and a three-car garage. The outbuildings on the property (a woolshed and sheepyards, cattle yards, a workshop, an implement shed, two haysheds, and a silo shed) are all as new. The auctioneer, Mr Bill Hetrick of Wrightson NMA, Ltd, Ashburton, said that about 40 people attended the auction. Negotiations for a private sale are under way with two or three interested parties. A small ownership flat at 71 Estuary Road. South Brighton, was passed in at auction on February 9 at $lB,OOO. The flat, which was described as ideal tor a retired couple, has a GV (1979) of $12,000.
It has two bedrooms with built-in-furniture, a kitchen equipped with modern conveniences and a garage. It was auctioned by Mr M. McCrostie. of N. H: McCrostie arid Company.
