Ski-field access meeting
The Minister of Lands (Mr Elworthy) will hurry along an agreement on the route of the access road to the Rainbow Ski-field, near Lake Rotoiti. A delegation of three representatives of Rainbow Skifield Develojpments, Ltd, met the Minister over delays to the development because of wranglings over the legal route of the access road, which passes over Crownlease land. “I am concerned they have been delayed for so long,” said Mr Elworthy. “This should have been settled ages ago.” The three developers declined to comment on their visit to the Minister, preferring that the dispute was resolved first. Construction of the access road began in May last year. An injunction granted in the District Court at Nelson in June stopped the company crossing the pastoral lease of a local farmer.
